Ariane and Rosemary earn ‘heroic’ competition success

Young Historians' Podcast Competition

Young Historians’ Podcast Competition

This year the Historical Association and BBC History Magazine have jointly sponsored a Young Historians’ Podcast Competition, inviting both individual and group entries from students aged 16 to 18 on the topic of ‘My History Hero’ in the form of a three-minute podcast. We are delighted that two KEHS girls, Ariane Laurent-Smith and Rosemary Walmsley, have been announced as finalists, placing them in the top ten individual entries. Ariane submitted a podcast on William Pitt the Younger, and Rosemary chose to create hers on Queen Margrethe I of Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

You can read more about the competition and the announcement of the shortlisted entries on the BBC History Magazine site here, and you can listen to both girls’ podcasts (and the other shortlisted entries) on the Historical Association website here.

This is a fantastic achievement by both Ariane and Rosemary, and their entries remain in the running for the top prizes to be announced in the April issue of BBC History Magazine. Well done, girls, and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for you!
